Summer
Gigs: Well folks, summertime is upon us once again, which
can only mean one thing…Hair Of The Dog goes outside!! That’s right,
it’s time to cut loose from the pubs (for the most part) and bring
our music (and beverage of choice) to the great outdoors. As you
review our schedule for the summer, you’ll see that it is dominated
by Parks, Fairs, and Festivals…
More and more townships in our neck of the woods have been providing
free (that’s right, FREE!) music entertainment to their communities
at their parks in recent years, and we are thrilled to be able to
make stops this year in Colonie, Scotia, Bethlehem, Schodack,
Clifton Park, Glens Falls, Brunswick, and Guilderland. Pack up the
whole fam damily and come on out!
If a healthy mix of livestock and Irish music is more your thing,
you’ll find plenty of both when we make our first appearance at the
Saratoga County Fair, and our sixth appearance at the Altamont Fair
(last year Eric won a Blue Ribbon for his home-made Jamison Stew!).
We are also thrilled to be making return visits to four of our most
favorite Irish Festivals. We’ll be at the Great American Irish
Festival in July, the Hunter Mountain Irish Festival in August, and
the Hooley On The Hudson over Labor Day weekend. Our final wrap up
to our summer season just happens to be our most favorite gig of the
year, Irish 2000 at the Altamont Fair Grounds. This year marks the
10th anniversary of Irish 2000, and we are proud to say that we have
been performing there each of the past ten years. It is by far the
finest one-day Irish festival in North America. For more information
about all our gigs this summer, please go to our
Schedule page.
Best Band Award. The Albany
Times Union’s Reader’s Poll just came out, and we are so very
pleased and honored to be named “Best Local Band”. We all feel
incredibly blessed to have such great fans. Jimmy Buffett may have
the Parrot Heads, but we’ve got the Dog Heads! We have always said
that it is our audience that makes a Hair Of The Dog show so
much fun. Thanks to all our fans…you guys are awesome!!!
Destination:
Liverpool. Rick is personally sponsoring a “Magical
Mystery Tour” of famous Beatle landmarks and other British
attractions November 10-16, 2007.
You will spend two nights in
Liverpool and three in London. The vacation includes all Beatle
Tours in both cities, a night at a London theater, round trip air
tickets from NYC, English coach transportation and guide, hotels,
breakfasts and two dinners. The space is limited for this trip of a
lifetime, so we recommend sending your deposit in as soon as
possible. Call Hammond Travel at 518-489-7280 or go to
Rick’s bio page for all the details.
Break out the suntan lotion?
Speaking of trips, we’re in the process of working on a very special
trip to be held next year during our most hollowed of holidays, St.
Patrick’s Day! Since we don’t want to jinx it, we’re going to keep
things quiet until everything is confirmed and guaranteed. Stay
tuned!
Number 9, Number 9? Production
for our 9th CD is rolling along quite well. Look for lots of new
stuff, including some great original songs. This will be our first
album with drums, and we can’t wait for you to hear it. We are
hoping to have it to you by the end of the year.
Thanks again to all our fans. We look forward to seeing you out and
about this summer!
