Hair-A-Thon
February 1,
2010
Beginning in the late 1990's at Eamonn's in Loudonville, NY,
Hair-A-Thon became a Hair Of The Dog January tradition. After
the tragic fire that gutted Eamonn's, Hair-A-Thon moved north to our
home in Saratoga Springs, NY, The Parting Glass. Hair-A-Thon
is literally a Hair Of The Dog marathon of concerts that takes place
annually, every Friday and Saturday throughout the month of January.
Hair-A-Thon shows feature the popular "Stump The Band" segment that
has become a crowd favorite. This year with a little bit of
tweaking, we improved "Stump The Band" in order to make it more
audience friendly and it worked better than ever. We also had
a wider variety of giveaway items courtesy of our generous sponsors.
This year's sponsors included Celtic Treasures, Grand Premier Tire,
The Counties of Ireland, October Eve Music Group, Irish Music
Corporation, Lennon's Irish Shop, The Parting Glass and Northern
Distributors. Hair-A-Thon 2010 was a huge success and it will
return to The Parting Glass in 2011.
Tour Of Ireland
March 1, 2010
2010's Tour of Ireland was our eighth and it was our best. It
probably has a lot to do with our travel agents, our Irish tour
guides and our fans and friends. A lot of folks have been to
the Emerald Isle with us multiple times. For many others, the
2010 trip was their first. As always, this was a terrific way
to introduce dozens of Hair Of The Dog admirers to the people and
places that they've heard us singing and talking about so many
times. We've already received countless thank you letters and
emails from our fellow travelers and we've only been back for a
week! The next Hair Of The Dog Tour of Ireland is scheduled
for February 15-21, 2014. For a more complete accounting of
our exploits last month please to go "Road
Trips".
Dan
DiNicola
March 28, 2010
We received some sad news a few days ago. Three time Emmy-award
winning television reporter and film critic Dan DiNicola passed away
a few days ago after a long battle with cancer. Dan was a brilliant
entertainment reporter for WRGB-TV and he also wrote for The Daily
(Schenectady, NY) Gazette. Even though he was based here in New
York's Capital Region, his work took him all over the country and
across the globe. Dan was intelligent, funny, cynical and endlessly
inquisitive. Before becoming a journalist, Dan taught high school
literature, film and creative writing. He loved baseball, food,
music and quirky people, places and things. Dan and renowned
videographer/editor Sony Stark put together a terrific story on Hair
Of The Dog which aired on WRGB-TV in 2001. (Click
here to play the video.) Dan DiNicola will be
sorely missed and certainly never forgotten.
HOTD Voted
Best Band Again In 2010
April, 2010
Results of their Reader's Poll for "Best Of" were published in the
April, 2010 edition of Capital Region Living magazine. Hair Of The
Dog was voted Best Band and we'd like to thank everyone who filled
our name in on their ballots. Capital Region Living invited a few of
the winners to be photographed for the magazine cover. On short
notice, only one band member was able to make the 10 AM shoot at
Creo in Guilderland, NY but he ably represents the whole group. Congratulations to all of this year's
winners.
Last Chance
CDs
May 14, 2010
This is your last chance to get a copy or two of Hair Of The Dog's
"Release The Hounds", RB's "Rick Bedrosian" or The Porters "Ale
House Fire". These three popular October Eve Records titles are out
of print and when they're gone, they're gonna be gone for good.
Supplies are obviously limited so don't forget to pick up a few
before it's too late!
Rick and the Boys.
