Rock
of Cashel was a seat of power for over one thousand years.
The Kings of Munster ruled here from the 5th century until
they turned the site over to the Church in the early 12th century.
Cromwell's forces overwhelmed the abbey in the 17th century,
and it finally fell into disuse in the late 18th century.
